Record GCSE results for Royal School pupils Pupils at the Royal School Dungannon have achieved record GCSE results in this summer's examinations. An incredible 27/101 pupils who sat GCSE examinations returned at lease 8 A*/A grades. Annie Kret secured 10A* grades and 1 grade A, while Zoe Geddis and Jayne Patterson each secured 10 A* grades. Michael Dodds, Helen Harkness, Emily Garvin, Sarah Smyth, Chloe Burton, Chloe McGammon, Simon Hall and Anna Jardine each carried off 10 A*/A grades. The overall results showed that for the first time RSD pupils had broken the 50 percent barrier for A*/A grades with 21.2 percent of A* and 31.3 percent at A, making a total of 52.5 percent of all grades at the top two levels - a new record for the School. And 81.2 percent of all grades were at A*-B and 96.1 percent were at A*-C. 93.1 percent of all pupils met government benchmarks of returning at least seven A*-C grades. The Headmaster, Dr David Burnett, full of praise for the pupils, stated: "We knew how hard so many of the pupils were working and we had high hopes for their success and they have come up trumps. They really deserve huge congratulations for all their efforts and dedication and we are delighted to have so many pupils returning to the Sixth Form." He added: "One of the interesting factors has been the close correlation between the predictions of teachers and the outcomes for pupils and it is a real testimony to the amount of time and effort the staff put in to working with the pupils and assessing their abilities."
