New Home Safety & Crime Prevention Scheme launched

08/02/2010

Dungannon and South Tyrone Interagency Group has recently commenced a Home Safety and Crime Prevention Scheme which will particularly benefit senior citizens, vulnerable people and victims of domestic burglary, theft and robbery.

Participants can avail of home safety advice and if appropriate, have free home security equipment fitted by a local PSNI representative or Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council's Home Safety Officer. The security equipment which can be fitted includes padlock alarms, door wedge alarms and sensor alarms.

This Scheme is funded by Dungannon and South Tyrone Community Safety Partnership and supported by the PSNI, Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council's Home Safety Officer and Dungannon and South Tyrone District Policing Partnership. The Home Safety Officer can also provide advice and assistance on other safety issues in and around the home.

The Scheme hopes to promote a greater sense of safety and security in the home, reduce the fear of crime and reduce the numbers of repeat domestic burglaries, thefts and robberies.

Our contact details are as follows;

o Mark Flynn, Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council's Home Safety Officer on 028 8772 0300 (ask for the Environmental Health Department)

o Constable Paul Wilson, PSNI Crime Prevention Officer for Dungannon on 0845 600 8000

o Celene Slevin, Dungannon and South Tyrone District Policing Partnership Manager on 028 8772 8607.
