Dunbia Aims to be the leading Butchery Training Centre.26/08/2008
The Dungannon based group aims to become a centre of excellence for meat training by offering a range of accredited course aimed at developing and increasing the qualifications and knowledge of those seeking a career in butcherly and butchery management. The butchery training programmer is modular based and will cover all areas of craft butchery. It will be delivered through a combination of on and off the job training in dedicated, specialised facilities by experienced trainers. The programme will run in conjunction with the Meat Training Council as part of a specially tailored Modern Apprenticeship programme leading to an NVQ Level 2 in Food Manufacture. Commenting on the opportunities and butchery training programmes delivered at Dunbia, Managing Director Kenny Swann said "we have a range of practical courses on offer for both the school leaver and those already in the sector. We have put particular emphasis on developing butchery skills such as de-boning and trimming that have a high earning potential with fully trained specialist butchers having an earning potential in excess of £20,000 per annum." The Academy's trainees can look forward to receiving structured training, working alongside experienced tutors who possess a wealth of industry knowledge and experience. The newly formed Butchery Training Academy is currently recruiting trainees for the butchery programmes. In addition, the company offer supervisory and management training programmes which combine practical experience with a Foundation Degree in Food Manufacture. This Trainee Management will be delivered in conjunction with CAFRE at Loughry, with the company also offering development programmes accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management.
