Volunteer Now’s Christmas Connections – Dungannon

01/11/2011

Volunteer Now will be hosting Christmas Connections in Dungannon to promote volunteering opportunities with local charities and voluntary organisations The aim of the event is to focus on the recruitment of volunteers for specific Christmas related volunteer opportunities ie. gift wrapping, fund raising, toy appeals, food donation, hamper appeals etc. We would like to highlight short opportunities (as well as more regular volunteering opportunities with your organisation). If you're thinking of recruiting volunteers for the New Year this event is also a good opportunity. We want Christmas Connections to be a fun and exciting event, open and accessible to as many people as possible, involving the whole community. Weather permitting the event will take place in the Market Square in the town centre.

Opportunities you can offer on the day

Do you have simple activities that you might need completed coming up to Christmas that would be fun for anyone popping in to the event? For example; Christmas Cards you need written/posted to your members/sponsors, gift wrapping, toy appeals? If your group does knitting, cooking, singing, is good at arts and crafts, flower arrangements or candle making, think of showcasing these by having a demonstration, selling hand-made items produced by your members as a way to fundraise, or by inviting people to take part and learn that craft on the day.

We have limited space available so if your organisation would like to take part in Christmas Connections book your place as soon as possible. The event will be taking place on
Thursday 8th December from 10am to 3pm.

Volunteer Now will also be highlighting Christmas Connections in the news section of our website. The campaign will promote volunteering during the Christmas period, encourage groups and individuals to Pass Your Parcel (this is an opportunity to support local Charity Shops by donating unwanted gifts, clothing and bric-a-brac) and raise awareness of a partnership with Libraries NI to promote volunteering at Christmas.

Please let me know if you would like to take part on the day and don't hesitate to get in touch for further assistance.

Kind regards,

Raquel Rodrigues
