Dungannon has always been outward looking in the context of economic activity, through-out the year the local Council and Dungannon Enterprise Centre hold a number of business support programmes for new, existing and expanding businesses.


Local Economic Development Action Plan 2013 – 2015

Business SupportThe Council’s 2013-2015 Local Economic Development Plan, contains 8 strategic programmes which aim to create and sustain jobs, boost exports and move innovative ideas towards commercial gain.

The programmes within the 2013-2015 Economic Development Action Plan are open for applications from individuals and small and medium-sized businesses.

Digital High Street

Dungannon Life High Street RetailThe programme is designed to help participants become aware of the opportunities that the internet presents for their business, deepen understanding of how to use the technology and engage with a global audience.

The programme will address a number of key areas in order to stimulate business growth:

  • Developing an online brand and online marketing strategy
  • Web Development and the changing face of Search Engine Optimisation
  • Embracing Social Media in all aspects of business
  • Maintaining profitable relationships with customers through email marketing
  • The future trends in technology that will affect business
  • Ensuring basic IT Skills

Participants will learn more about these areas through the development of:

  • A 6 month online marketing action plan,
  • Access to online learning materials selected by a mentor to address learning needs from the marketing plan
  • Specific mentoring in the areas identified in the plan to deepen the online learning
  • Hands on workshops on core areas likely to be included in the marketing plan.

Implementation of Programme:

Participants will receive the personal touch, receiving 8 hours individual mentoring tailored to business needs.

Retail Masterclasses/Information sessions

A number of Masterclasses are open to retailers aimed at enhancing knowledge and building competence. It is envisaged the Masterclasses/information sessions will be motivational and practical and should cover the following subject areas:-

  • Developing a Digital Marketing Strategy
  • Using Social Media to Engage your customers
  • Effective E-mail Marketing in Retail
  • Selling & Trading Online
  • The Future of Technology in Retail

Get Into Retail

  • ‘Get into Retail’ business programme aims to assist local individuals and entrepreneurs to explore and develop business ideas.
  • The programme will provide participants with:
  • Practical retail workshops to develop skills and knowledge in key retail subject areas including visual merchandising, marketing and financial management;
  • Knowledge of the range of retail outlet options in Dungannon that are available which will suit business ideas
  • One-to-one mentoring to help develop ideas and assist with the development of product/service;
  • Assistance in developing a business plan;
  • Best practice study visits to successful independent retail businesses to learn first hand how to successfully set up and run a business;
  • The opportunity to test trade at a suitable location

Dungannon Enterprise Center
Dungannon Enterprise Centre is in the heart of Northern Ireland providing professional advise to:-

  • Help new businesses start up
  • Encourage existing businesses to expand

The Enterprise Centre provides rented business accommodation with in its Business Park. The workspace units range in sizes to suit any business whether it be a manufacturing or office need.

The Business Cube is an contemporary variation of workspace incubation with 13 steel containers converted into offices and located within a 4000sq.ft warehouse. Rent, electric, heating rates and broadband is all included in the turnkey price and tenants can relax and network in the indoor landscaped patio area.
